About Me
Lina Li is a collaborative pianist, vocal coach, and choir conductor who has performed extensively in North America and Europe. She has a rich background in both vocal and instrumental music and has brought her wealth of knowledge and passion to students and communities. Through her studies and work at Western University (2005-2016), Boston University (2016-2019), and the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra (2017-2019), she has honed her exceptional performance and teaching abilities. Her students have been admitted to music programs at The Glenn Gould School, University of Toronto, and the Curtis Institute of Music. Her private vocal students have also excelled in Canadian and international competitions.
Lina holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Collaborative Piano from Boston University, two solo piano degrees from Western University, a Higher Education Teaching Certificate from Harvard University, and a Grade 10 certificate in voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music. She has been a collaborative pianist for various summer music programs, such as the Franz Schubert Institute in Austria (2017) and the Centre for Opera Studies in Italy (2010). She has performed in masterclasses conducted by some of the most outstanding collaborative pianists and vocalists, including Roger Vignoles, Helmuth Deutsch, Julius Drake, Elly Ameling, and Wolfram Rieger.
In addition to teaching piano and voice at her private studio in Dundas, Lina serves as an organist and choir conductor at St. Michael's Anglican Church in Hamilton. Her passion for community work has led her to coach and conduct various community choirs in the Halton region. Her Oakville STRAZ choir won first place in the 2022 New York Global Competition and was featured on CBC News for placing in the top ten in the 2023 Canadian Music Classroom Challenge.
